Twickenham Gateway is the transformational redevelopment of Twickenham Station. A new station building in the centre of a public plaza hosting a convenience store, cafe and shops at ground level with new apartments above. The residential units are provided in 3 blocks with a total number of 115 apartments.
The character of the buildings are designed to indicate a modern approach to the station via the plaza whilst block C terrace is constructed in a Georgian style sympathetic to the local area.
The primary services provisions include the following; Central boiler house with 3 no. high efficiency gas fired boilers plus CHP Unit and heat store serving Heat Interface Units (HIU) within each apartment via heating mains running through the underground car park and below ground to connect to services risers in each of the 3 residential blocks. The HIU’s are provided with ModBus technology providing energy efficient heating and domestic hot water control with remote monitoring and automatic billing arrangements.
The electrical infrastructure incorporates new sub-station, generator, LV Switchgear with cable distribution to the residential blocks both underground and through the basement car park to risers and via corridor ceiling voids.
The design also incorporates photo voltaic arrays and green roofs. The underground car park is provided with general and smoke ventilation arrangements via induction fans and dual extract fan arrangements.
Whilst positivity pressurised lobbies are provided between the car park and main staircases as part of the fire strategy and with a combination of natural and fan assisted smoke vents and associated smoke alarm and detection systems.
