Haywards Heath Fire Station

The project involves a major extension to the fire station plus the refurbishment of the existing areas. Building services systems have been replaced throughout the main building.

The building in addition to being a fully operational fire station with training facilities also house offices for both the Fire & Rescue and Ambulance Services.

The project brief included the requirement to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions whilst meeting budgetary restraints. A 6kW photo voltaic array and solar water heating have been incorporated in the project however heating is a traditional radiator system to the offices and fan convectors in the Appliance Bay served via high efficiency condensing boilers.

Lighting is via high efficiency dimmable low energy sources with automatic PIR and daylight sensing. A fire alarm and smoke detection system has been extended throughout the building to LS standard. A sprinkler system to OH category 2 is also provided.

The LV switchboard has been replaced plus internal sub-mains cable to new distribution boards and external services including outbuildings, sprinkler and fuel pump supplies. Dado trunking is provided to the offices with small power and IT services.
