Eaglewood School is an ‘alternative provision’ school located in New Milton in the New Forest and caters for students with SEN needs.
The design meets BREEAM Excellent requirements. Particular attention was provided to building orientation, window/glass selection, thermal properties, energy efficiency/sustainability of mechanical and electrical systems and in particular the use of hybrid natural ventilation to teaching spaces.
This is also in full compliance BB101 and the more exacting standards of the EFA Framework (i.e. Daylight factors of between 3 and 4 to all new teaching spaces) whilst achieving full compliance with overheating standards and acoustic requirements whilst also utilising opening windows.
The project included the provision of a new building incorporating classrooms, art studio, science laboratory, and support areas.
The existing Phoenix Centre Building was fully refurbished and the school now provides a new dining area, food technology, teaching facilities, as well as ten brand new classrooms, a learning resource centre, offices and administrative areas with the addition of an upgraded sports hall, music and drama facilities and shower and changing room amenities.
