Blandford Town Council

This project comprises of the internal remodelling of Grade 1 listed Town Hall including Court Room, the refurbishment of the Grade 2 listed Corn Exchange multi-use hall and the redevelopment of the Town Council offices including community room.

The scheme includes the restoration of the original Georgian frontage, internalization of the ‘Shambles’ currently an open loggia, rationalization of the accommodation within the town Hall and extensive works to the Victorian Corn Exchange.

The project supported with HLF includes a combination of conservation works, repairs, access improvements, exhibition interpretation works, fire safety improvement works, staff and visitor facilities plus the replacement of the building services installations which includes the following sustainable techniques and technologies:

  • Minimisation of the provision of cooling & maximisation of natural ventilation.
  • Automatic natural ventilation exhaust plus mechanical fresh air supply incorporating fresh air ground loop and night purging.
  • The integration of open loop ground source heat pumps to provide partial heating, the majority of hot water generation and cooling.
  • The integration of an air source heat pump in the Town Hall roof space to provide heating for this section of the building.
  • High efficiency dimmable lighting including LED’s plus automatic lighting control.
  • Heat recovery to supply and exhaust ventilation systems.
