The challenge of this project was to turn a night club into a multi-use space plus student’s union facilities.

The normal use of the multi-function space is in three parts:

Work area with inflatable study pods
Refectory area with hot meal servery
Play area with satellite TV, computer games

The space is however also utilised for University open day sessions, exhibitions and conferences.

Ancillary accommodation includes; student’s union offices, radio station and touchdown area with hot desk area.

Acoustic sails have been incorporated in a flowing arrangement to improve the acoustics of the main space.

Lighting was replaced with high efficiency type whilst the displacement ventilation system was reconfigured, controls strategies were changed and enhanced and this system was rebalanced.
